Regional producers' fair in the farmyard of a Rococo palace — Schloss Mosigkau, Dessau-Roßlau
Schloss Mosigkau is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site Gartenreich Dessau-Wörlitz and is one of the few surviving Rococo palaces in Central Germany. Built in the mid-18th century for the Anhalt princess Anna Wilhelmine, it today houses a significant painting collection. The associated farmyard is usually the less visible part of the palace ensemble — but once a year, on a Saturday in spring, it becomes the stage: The Mosigkauer Genussmesse presents the culinary diversity of the region here.
The format is still young — its 3rd edition runs in 2026 — but the concept works. Over 30 regional producers and dealers present their specialties: bakers, beekeepers, cheesemakers, vintners from Saale-Unstrut, brewers, sausage makers, confectioners, direct marketers. The motto 2026 — "Anhalt(en) and Enjoy" — plays on the name of the historical landscape of Anhalt and invites conscious tasting.
Behind the Genussmesse is the Schrot & Korn Mosigkauer Back- und Sportschützenverein e.V. — a club name that well represents the local spectrum. Schrot & Korn combines bakery tradition (Back) with the village shooting and sports scene, and the members' voluntary commitment sustains the fair. A charming constellation: a regional gourmet fair, hosted by a club deeply rooted in the community.
Dessau-Roßlau is one of the three independent cities in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Known primarily for the Bauhaus and the Gartenreich — both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Mosigkau is a district located on the edge of the Gartenreich. Visitors to the Genussmesse can easily combine the day with a palace tour or a walk in the surrounding park — the Mosigkau Garden Kingdom is considered one of the most atmospheric places in the region.
Ten hours of regional gourmet stalls in the baroque farmyard. Taste your way through Saxony-Anhalt — from Saale-Unstrut wine to farm bread, regional cheese and honey, to game specialties and chocolates from small manufactories. In between, a light accompanying program, palace tours, and lingering in the historic ambiance.
