Ten wine villages from the Ferienland Cochem present around 200 Rieslings and sparkling wines on Endertplatz
The Moselle is one of the most famous wine-growing regions in the world, and its Riesling wines are among the highest quality white wines that German viticulture has to offer internationally. The Mosel-Wein-Woche in Cochem is a kind of compact showcase of this wine heritage: over five days in June, ten wine villages from the Ferienland Cochem – including Cochem itself, Bruttig-Fankel, Briedern, Ellenz-Poltersdorf, Sehl, Cond, Treis-Karden, and other neighboring municipalities – set up their own tasting stands on Endertplatz. A total of around two hundred wines and sparkling wines are available for tasting.
The selection clearly focuses on Riesling. Dry, semi-dry, off-dry, fruity, and noble sweet Spätlesen, Auslesen, and Beerenauslesen are represented, as are elegant sparkling wine creations from traditional bottle fermentation. In addition, the vintners offer individual Müller-Thurgau, Spätburgunder, Frühburgunder, and Weißburgunder, making the entire stylistic range of the Moselle visible. The stands are arranged in a semicircle around a central stage. The vintners offer personal advice, making the event not only an evening of enjoyment but also an opportunity to get to know the people behind the labels.
The festive opening takes place on Wednesday in the presence of the wine queens and princesses of the participating municipalities – wine queens and princesses representing their wine communities in traditional costume and with crowns. Afterwards, bands, singer-songwriters, solo artists, and DJs alternate on stage over the five days, giving each evening a different musical flavor. The highlight is the grand fireworks display on Friday evening around 10:30 PM, which offers an impressive light show with the Moselle as a mirror. Admission is free; only wine and food are subject to a charge.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the city of Cochem and the Ferienland Cochem in early summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years: Opening ceremony on Wednesday evening with the wine queens and princesses, followed by a daily stage program with changing musical focuses, fireworks on Friday around 10:30 PM, main festival days on the weekend, and the festival concluding on Sunday. The tasting stands of the ten wine villages are arranged in a semicircle around the stage.
