A Quarter Century of Model Building in the North

Modellbau Neumünster turns twenty-five in 2026. What began as a regional hobby fair in the Holstenhallen has developed into Northern Germany's most important meeting point for model builders. Across seven halls and several foyers, manufacturers, clubs, and private individuals showcase on around 20,000 square meters what the world of miniatures can do today.

Model Railways, Ships, Trucks, and More

The focus is on around twenty international model railway layouts in all gauges—from the delicate Z gauge to the large LGB garden railway. In addition, ship modelers demonstrate the maneuverability of their boats on specially set-up water basins, truck modelers drive through obstacle courses, and aircraft enthusiasts present historical replicas. RC drift and off-road demonstrations complete the program. On the marketplace, collectors can find spare parts, kits, and rare models from all over Europe.

Holstenhallen — Schleswig-Holstein's Exhibition Centre

The venue is the traditional Holstenhallen Neumünster exhibition center, which is one of the central locations in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, hosting consumer fairs, horse shows, and concerts. You can easily reach it by train or car—directly on the A7 motorway. The organizer is Ochtruper Veranstaltungs GmbH (OVG).

An Exhibition for the Whole Family

Even those who don't have a model railway in their basement will get their money's worth: The lovingly staged layouts with stations, mountain panoramas, and cityscapes will make children's eyes light up—and adults marvel at the attention to detail. Modellbau Neumünster is one of the few exhibitions in the region that bridges generations.
