A Village Festival in the Uckermark
Milmersdorf belongs to the Amt Gerswalde, located in the western part of the Uckermark district — one of the most sparsely populated and scenically beautiful regions of Brandenburg. Those who live here know each other. Those who travel here come for the tranquility, the chain of lakes, and the endless meadows. Once a year — on June 6, 2026 — the village transforms into a small festival ground for the traditional village festival.
Program in the Village Center
The village festival is traditionally co-organized by local clubs, the volunteer fire department, and the church community. Expected are a stage program with regional artists, children's activities (bouncy castle, craft stations, competitions), regional food and drinks, and a joint parade through the village. Free admission.
The Uckermark — Tranquility as a Destination
The Uckermark is one of the largest districts in Germany — and one of the most sparsely populated. Nestled in a landscape of glacial hills, beech forests, moors, and over 600 lakes, it is a destination for those seeking the opposite of big-city noise. The nearby Schorfheide-Chorin Nature Reserve (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve) and the Templin town forest are close by.
Community Engagement
Village festivals like the one in Milmersdorf are largely run by volunteers — parents, grandparents, young people, the fire department, and the church community. This form of civic engagement is an important social glue in rural areas of Brandenburg — and a good reason to consciously spend a summer Saturday at a small festival ground instead of in a big city.
