Traditional autumn market in the Blauen Ländchen with a parade on Sunday afternoon
The Miehlener Oktobermarkt is deeply rooted in the tradition of the village and its region. In the Blauen Ländchen, the fertile high plateau between the Middle Rhine, Lahn, and Taunus, the market is one of the oldest and largest autumn events.
The date on the second weekend in October traditionally marks the transition to late autumn – a time when the harvest is in and farmers, artisans, and citizens have reason to celebrate. For three days – from Saturday to Monday – the market takes over the center of Miehlen.
The market offerings include the classic Krämermarkt (market stalls) with household goods, textiles, leather goods, and regional products. Alongside this, the amusement rides area is set up with carousels, a swing boat, children's rides, and the traditional food stalls offering candied almonds, gingerbread hearts, bratwurst, and Reibekuchen (potato pancakes).
The highlight of the market is the parade on Sunday at 2 PM. Clubs, groups from the village, music bands, and floats with historical and current themes parade through the town center. The parade is a reflection of the local club culture and a social highlight in the annual calendar for many Miehlen residents.
With its combination of a traditional market, classic folk festival, and club parade, the Oktobermarkt has secured a firm place in the event calendar of the Aar-Einrich district.
The 2026 edition follows the traditional three-day format. The parade on Sunday remains the social highlight and a reflection of Miehlen's club culture.
