The Brightest Night of the Year on the Bodden

The Midsommerfest follows the Scandinavian tradition of Midsummer celebrations: the longest day of the year, celebrated in nature, with music and lights. In Klausdorf, it is celebrated at the Barhöft harbour — a small Bodden harbour at the transition to the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park, with a wide view over the water to the island of Bock and the Zingst peninsula.

Barhöft Harbour as the Venue

Barhöft belongs to the municipality of Klausdorf and is a popular excursion destination in summer: harbour, observation tower, hiking trails, and the tranquil Bodden landscape. For the Midsommerfest, the harbour area is transformed into a venue with a stage, campfire atmosphere, food stalls, and seating by the water. The long twilight on June 20th makes the evening special.

Municipality and Associations as Organisers

The festival is supported by the municipality of Klausdorf in cooperation with local associations and is part of a small but regular series of water festivals on the Bodden. It is not a mass event, but a village-like summer evening with atmosphere.

Summer Programme on the Western Bodden

Klausdorf is located in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, opposite Stralsund. Those who combine Midsommer with a day trip can explore the Bodden coast and the Vorpommernhus on Prohner Straße during the day and welcome summer in the evening at Barhöft.
