Marktfest with Summer Market — Kellmünz Tradition
Kellmünz a.d.Iller, a small market town in southern Swabia with just under 1,500 inhabitants, celebrates its Marktfest with Sommermarkt every year on the third weekend in June. The market administration itself is the organizer, with organizational support from the Kellmünz Music Association and other local clubs.
What awaits you
The weekend begins on Saturday with the Marktfest at the village fountain in the market square. Stalls with food and drinks, coffee and cake, and brass music form the convivial center. Sunday features the Sommermarkt: regional traders present household goods, textiles, handicrafts, delicacies, and various other items along the market street.
Kellmünz and Ritzisried Music Associations
The musical accompaniment is traditionally provided by the Kellmünz Music Association under the motto "We live brass music". In the morning, the friendly Ritzisried Music Association often plays, and in the evening, the Kellmünz band takes over until the festival ends. The atmosphere is family-friendly, the market character small and manageable — not a large event, but a real village festival.
Surroundings: Kellmünz
The market town is located directly on the Iller river, on the border between Bavarian Swabia and Württemberg. Those who stay longer can visit the Roman fort Caelius Mons or explore the Iller Cycle Path. The second major festival of the year is the Kirchweihmarkt (church consecration market) on the third Sunday in October.
