Sommermarkt Kandel (Stadtfest)

The Sommermarkt Kandel is a new format in 2026 and celebrates its premiere. The Kandel municipal association, in coordination with local businesses, the fairground operator Schneider, and the organizers of the previous ceramics and herb markets, has decided to bundle the three events into a joint city festival to leverage synergies and increase its external impact.

Three Formats, One Festival

Previously, the three events were spread throughout the year: the funfair by Schaustellerunternehmen Schneider, the ceramics market with potters and ceramic artists from all over Southern Germany, and the herb market with vendors of medicinal and culinary herbs, as well as regional specialties. The merger in 2026 creates a multifaceted city festival with three distinct focal points.

Amusement Rides

Schaustellerunternehmen Schneider provides four amusement rides: a bungee trampoline, a swing boat, bumper cars, and a children's carousel. This ensures the family program is well catered for.

Ceramics Market

The ceramics market attracts potters and ceramic artists from Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, and the Palatinate. They sell functional and decorative ceramics, sculptures, lamps, and individually crafted pieces. Pottery demonstrations often take place.

Herb Market

The herb market offers medicinal and culinary herbs from regional cultivation, herb blends, essential oils, tinctures, teas, and small culinary specialties related to herbs.

Program and Opening

Opening on Friday, May 29, 2026, with the tapping of the first keg at 6:00 PM. Catering will be available throughout the weekend at the food stalls. The Sunday shopping event integrates the city center's retail businesses into the festival.
