Spring over the Lahn
When the first warm weekends arrive after a long winter, Marburg opens its festival season with the Marburger Frühling. Stadtmarketing Marburg and local retailers invite you to the Oberstadt — and suddenly the city between Elisabethkirche and the castle is overflowing with stalls, music, and people.
Two Days, Two Areas
The festival takes place on two axes: in the historic Oberstadt around Barfüßerstraße, Hanno-Drechsler-Platz, and Marktplatz, and on the lower-lying Steinweg. Both areas are connected by walking paths, and the program is spread along the axis.
Small Spring Show in the Oberstadt
In the Oberstadt, the Kleine Frühlingsschau (Small Spring Show) takes place with the Oberstadtmarkt — regional specialties and delicacies, artisan products, and handicrafts. A children's carousel on the Marktplatz, and on Sunday, music, acrobatics, comedy, and street art.
Creative Market and Flea Market at Steinweg
At Steinweg, creatives from the region present their stalls with handmade items, art, and design. On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Oberstadt-Flohmarkt (Old Town Flea Market) — a true Marburg tradition — also opens. On Sunday, Steinweg is dedicated to the Family Festival at the Pferdebrunnen, with a program and activities for young and old.
Kick-off of the Marburg Festival Season
The Marburger Frühling kicks off the season, followed by the Cherry Blossom Festival, city festivals, and the Marburg-by-Night summer. Anyone experiencing Marburg in spring has chosen a good time: the Oberstadt is not yet overcrowded, the castle is open, and the Lahn meadows are in bloom.
