Spring festival with information stands, flyers, cycling and hiking maps in Bahnhofstraße in front of the town hall
The Maifest Suderburg marks the beginning of the warmer season and the peak tourist season in the Lüneburger Heide. On May 10, 2026, from 12 PM to 5 PM, Bahnhofstraße in front of the town hall transforms into a compact festival area with a market character. It is a festival that is deliberately kept small and cozy – an opportunity for locals to meet again after the winter and for guests to get to know the region.
The organizer is the Suderburger Land Tourism Association, which coordinates the marketing of the region as a destination for hiking, cycling, and recreation. The Suderburger Land extends over several Heide municipalities and is known for sandy heathland, dense mixed forests, and the open-air museum village of Hösseringen. At the association's information stand, you will find flyers, cycling and hiking maps, as well as personal advice on day trips, multi-day tours, and accommodation options.
Local clubs, artisans, and direct marketers complement the festival with their stalls. Homemade jams, honey, baked goods, small crafts, and decorations alternate with bratwurst, coffee, cake, and refreshments. It is a typical village spring festival with a family atmosphere.
The location in Bahnhofstraße in front of the town hall is convenient: central, easily accessible, with shade and seating. Those arriving by train are just a few minutes' walk away. Those coming from the region will find parking spaces in the surrounding streets.
Unlike purely social festivals, the Maifest Suderburg has a clear function as tourism information. The combination of festival culture and tourist advice is typical for rural regions that want to reach their guests through personal contact and not just digital channels. Those who stop by here usually go home with tips for their next hike or bike tour.
The date and event concept have been confirmed via the official website of the Suderburger Land Tourism Association (suderburgerland.de). It is a compact, small spring festival with a tourism focus.
Detailed program and participating exhibitors will be announced by the tourism association via suderburgerland.de in April 2026.
