Maifest Nienhagen — The Marksmen's Club Opens Its Doors

The Maifest of the Nienhagen Marksmen's Club is not a classic marksmen's festival (Schützenfest) with a king's shoot and a parade — the actual Whitsun Marksmen's Festival (Pfingstschützenfest) in Nienhagen only takes place every two years (most recently in 2025, expected again in 2027). But on May 1st, the club opens its shooting range to all interested parties: an open day, May festival, and taster course all in one.

Program: Hands-On Shooting Sports

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, an open program will run at the shooting range at Herforder Straße 256:

• Archery — on dedicated lanes, with guidance from experienced shooters
• Blowgun — particularly popular with children
• Air rifle and laser rifle shooting — for visitors to try out
• Information — about the disciplines, club structure, membership

Food and drinks will be offered on-site, and seating is available. You are welcome to bring your own picnic food — but please purchase drinks at the stand.

Nienhagen Marksmen's Club — Tradition Meets Modernity

The Nienhagen Marksmen's Club (Schützenverein Nienhagen e.V.) is one of the clubs that form the backbone of community life in the Lippe region. The Whitsun Marksmen's Festival, the club's main highlight, alternates every two years between different marksmen's clubs in the municipality of Leopoldshöhe. The Maifest, however, is an annual event, deliberately designed to be more open and accessible — an invitation to the citizens to get to know the club and its shooting range.

Leopoldshöhe-Nienhagen — Lippe's Marksmen's Land

Nienhagen is a district of the municipality of Leopoldshöhe in the Lippe district, east of Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia. With around 17,000 inhabitants in the entire municipality, Leopoldshöhe is one of the rural communities in the Lipperland region — marksmen's clubs are traditionally an important pillar of club life here.
