Autumn wine festival in Lösnich on the last weekend of September with wine, regional cuisine, and a grape harvest atmosphere
Autumn is arguably the most intense time of the wine year on the Middle Mosel: the grape harvest is underway on the steep slopes, the village is characterized day and night by the sound of must presses and harvesting teams, and the first partially fermented wines – Federweißer and Federroter – arrive in the courtyards. The Lösnicher Herbst uses this seasonal window for a compact three-day wine festival.
From Friday, September 25th, to Sunday, September 27th, 2026, the Lösnich vintners will open their courtyards. The focus is on Federweißer and Federroter – the partially fermented, slightly sparkling wines from the fresh harvest, available only a few weeks a year. They are traditionally accompanied by Zwiebelkuchen (onion tart), one of the classic autumn dishes of the German wine regions. In addition, wines from previous vintages will be available in their full range: Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Weißburgunder, Spätburgunder, and sparkling wines.
Anyone wishing to experience the grape harvest season on the Mosel will find an ideal opportunity at the Lösnicher Herbst. The vintners can often be found in the courtyard directly after a day's work in the vineyard, and conversations revolve around the vintage, botrytis, acidity levels, and the outlook for the coming weeks. The atmosphere is focused, knowledgeable, and very authentic.
The wine selection is accompanied by a rich autumn menu: Zwiebelkuchen, Flammkuchen, Bratwurst, Schiefertaler ham, cheese platters, soups, salads, and sweet specialties. Live music in individual courtyards adds to the atmosphere without detracting from the festival's calm, village character.
The 2026 edition continues the successful concept of previous years. As the date falls within the ongoing harvest, short-term adjustments may occur depending on the weather and harvest progress.
Those who want to not only drink wine but also experience the harvest season will find an intense, very authentic encounter with the vintners' work at the Lösnicher Herbst.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in late summer. The structure follows the established cornerstones of the Mosel autumn festivals:
