Neef Fire Brigade Festival

Neef is a small but well-known Moselle village in the Zell collective municipality, known primarily for its location in one of the most beautiful Moselle loops and for its traditional wine festivals. The Pentecost weekend has been the fixed date for decades for the Neef Volunteer Fire Brigade's festival, which is organized voluntarily by the brigade's support association.

The festival grounds are located directly on the Moselle riverbank and offer one of the most beautiful festival sites on the Lower Moselle. With a view of the Moselle, the sunset behind the hills, and the illuminated ships on the river, the scenery combines natural beauty and a convivial atmosphere. For three days, the grounds transform into a festival mile with a festival tent, beer stand, food stalls, and a stage.

The program follows a proven structure: Opening on Friday evening, grand dance evening on Pentecost Saturday with a live band, morning pint on Pentecost Sunday with brass music, family afternoon with play opportunities for children, festival finale on Pentecost Sunday evening. The wines come from Neef vintners and their neighbors; in addition, Pilsner on tap, Schorle (wine mixed with sparkling water), and soft drinks are served.

Culinary delights include typical Moselle festival cuisine: 'Schwenkbraten' (marinated pork neck) from an open grill, sausages, fries, potato pancakes, and hearty festive dishes. The firefighters themselves are the heart of the festival – they volunteer for all tasks. Anyone who visits the Fire Brigade Festival supports the preservation of an institution indispensable for rural safety with every beer and every 'Schwenkbraten'.
