Long Art Evening Emden
Monthly cultural evening format at the Kunsthalle Emden with free admission, guided tour, and special program every first Tuesday
2026
About Long Art Evening
Long Art Evening — edition 2026
The format is particularly curated and enhanced with a special program in the anniversary year. The Kunsthalle uses the Long Art Evenings to intensively present the three parallel exhibitions "Bilder, die wir lieben," Misha Kuball, and "AM HAFEN," and to engage in dialogue with the artists.
The first Tuesday of the month is a deliberate choice of day: outside the weekend tourist rhythm, the format is aimed at the local population and regular visitors. The event begins at the same time as many people finish work, allowing for visits after work.

Concept of the Cultural Evening
With the Long Art Evening, the Kunsthalle Emden has created a recurring format that lowers barriers: Instead of a classic museum visit during fixed morning opening hours, a visit is also possible after work. The offer is aimed at working people, families, and anyone who wants to spend a relaxed evening in a cultural context. The Kunsthalle by night – as the format is occasionally called – is one of the city's best-known regular educational formats.
Program Components
The Long Art Evening consists of several components. The Kunsthalle is open from 5 PM to 9 PM. At 6 PM, a guided tour of one of the currently running exhibitions begins – in 2026, these will be "Bilder, die wir lieben" (Pictures We Love), Misha Kuball, and "AM HAFEN" (At the Harbor). At 7 PM, a special event takes place: exhibition openings, artist talks, readings, small concerts, or performances.
Example Date 2026
A specific date in 2026 is the opening of Stefanie Kampling's exhibition titled "Heiter bis wolkig" (Fair to Cloudy) on May 31, 2026. Such openings are regularly integrated into the Long Art Evening and create a meeting platform between artists, collectors, educators, and a broader audience.
Funding and Significance
The format is funded by the Aloys Wobben Foundation, which acts as an important supporter of the Kunsthalle Emden. Free admission makes the offer accessible without financial barriers. Thus, the Long Art Evening is an example of successful outreach work by a privately funded art museum in a medium-sized city.
