Final stage of Germany's professional cycling tour in Heilbronn city center with a popular cycling tour and newcomer race
Since its relaunch in 2018, the Tour of Germany has been the largest multi-day professional stage race in Germany and a regular fixture on the international cycling calendar. Since 2024, it has carried the name of its new main sponsor, Lidl Tour of Germany. The four-day 2026 tour runs from August 19 to 23 and is a UCI ProSeries event — on the same level as the Tour de Pologne or the Tour of Britain. International WorldTour teams are regularly represented.
The final stage on August 23, 2026, is a city circuit stage with start and finish in Heilbronn's city center. The professionals will complete three laps through the city, with key sections like Kaiserstraße, Marktplatz, and Sülmer Straße integrated into the route. The professionals competing in the tour will battle for the stage win and the overall classification here — Heilbronn will be the venue for the final decision in 2026.
There is an extensive supporting program around the professional stage:
• ADAC Cycling Tour — Popular cycling tour for amateur cyclists on a separate course, advance registration required.
• LichtBlick Newcomer Tour — Race for young professional talents, talent scouting.
• kinder Joy of Moving Mini-Tour — Children's races on shorter routes (various age groups).
This transforms the professional stage into an all-day cycling festival with appeal far beyond Heilbronn.
Heilbronn (independent city 08121, approx. 127,000 inhabitants) is located on the Neckar river between Stuttgart and Würzburg and is one of Baden-Württemberg's most important economic centers. The experimenta — Germany's largest science center — and the 2019 Federal Garden Show have significantly changed the cityscape. Heilbronn hosts important future-oriented locations with the Bildungscampus and the Lidl headquarters. Cycling has a tradition in the region (Schwabentour, Stuttgart Triathlon), and with the 2026 Tour of Germany finale, Heilbronn will definitively become the cycling stage of the republic.
Heilbronn will once again be the venue for the final stage of the Lidl Tour of Germany in 2026. After four days with stages across Germany (August 19–23), the professional teams will meet for the decisive city circuit stage in Heilbronn. Three laps through the city center will bring the start and finish areas together — a very spectator-friendly stage format where spectators can experience the race unfold up close multiple times.
Heilbronn is using the event to host a comprehensive cycling festival. Before the professional race, the ADAC Cycling Tour (popular cycling tour for amateur cyclists), the LichtBlick Newcomer Tour (newcomer race), and the kinder Joy of Moving Mini-Tour (children's race) will take place. A fan mile with live broadcasts, food, and entertainment will create a festive atmosphere all day long.
