Light art installations in Blühendes Barock Park under the motto "Fairytale Blossom Magic" as the season finale
Since 1954, Blühendes Barock has been the annual garden, park, and flower show in the Ludwigsburg Palace Park — the largest preserved Baroque palace complex in Germany. Across 30 hectares, a rare mix of French Baroque garden, English landscape park, animal enclosures, and the famous fairytale garden unfolds. With the Leuchtende Traumpfade, the season doesn't end in darkness, but in a staged light art experience.
For six weeks, the park opens its gates in the evening — admission from 5:00 PM, closing at 9:30 PM. The circular route leads through the Upper East Garden, accessed via the Platanenallee at Schüsselesee. Length of the illuminated path: approximately 2.5 km, duration depending on pace 1 to 1.5 hours.
The annual motto "Fairytale Blossom Magic" directly connects to the famous Ludwigsburg Fairytale Garden and translates classic motifs into light art: oversized glowing blossoms, shimmering swarms of butterflies, projected fairytale figures on hedges and facades, a tunnel of thousands of fairy lights, a walk-in starry sky, animated water effects at Schüsselesee, luminous mushrooms, and magical creatures along the main axes.
At several points, you'll find interactive light installations: floor projections that react to footsteps, sound-sensitive light walls, a light carousel to activate. Families with children will find the most fun here — the park never becomes too "museum-still".
Several food and drink stands invite you to take a break along the route: mulled wine (Glühwein), children's punch, crêpes, bratwurst, chestnuts, candied almonds, warm soups, waffles. Seating areas with heated mushroom heaters.
The city of Ludwigsburg (AGS 08118, capital of the Ludwigsburg district) is located 12 km north of Stuttgart. Ludwigsburg Residential Palace is considered one of the largest preserved Baroque palace complexes in Europe. The city consistently leverages its palace and garden brand with events such as the Palace Festivals (summer), the Pumpkin Exhibition (autumn), the Mom-Art Market (Christmas market), and the Leuchtende Traumpfade.
There are many light festivals in Germany — the Leuchtende Traumpfade stand out for two reasons: Firstly, the unique park setting with a Baroque palace backdrop, mature hedges, and Schüsselesee as a water mirror. Secondly, the connection to the fairytale garden universe — the staging draws on established imagery, which particularly appeals to families with children.
The 2026 Leuchtende Traumpfade is the season finale of Blühendes Barock. On a 2.5 km circular route in the Upper East Garden, you can expect oversized light blossoms, fairytale projections, interactive installations, and water effects at Schüsselesee. The motto "Fairytale Blossom Magic" combines light art with the classic imagery of the famous Ludwigsburg Fairytale Garden.
