Palatinate Wine and Kirmes in One Festival
Haßloch is the largest municipality in the Palatinate — and boasts an unusually diverse event landscape. The Leisböhler Weintage and Maikerwe combine two actually opposing festival formats into a four-day overall event: the curated wine presentation by Haßloch wineries with the edition from the top Leisböhl vineyard at Jahnplatz, and the traditional Palatinate May Kirmes with amusement rides, showmen, and festival stalls on Leo-Loeb-Straße. This combination makes the festival particularly attractive for families, mixed groups of visitors, and everyone who appreciates both wine culture and folk festival atmosphere.
The Haßlocher Leisböhl Edition
The focus of the wine days is the Haßlocher Leisböhl edition — a curated wine selection from the local top vineyard Leisböhl. Participating are Wein- und Sektgut Braun, Weingut Grundhof, and Weinland Meckenheim. The wines are presented with the typical Haßloch character — directly from the producer, with explanations about the vineyard and vinification. In addition, there are wines from other Palatinate producers and, of course, Palatinate sparkling wine.
International Folklore Show
A unique selling point of the festival is the folklore program. International folk dance groups perform — including the Trachtengruppe Billigheim with Palatinate traditional costume, the Krakowiak dance ensemble from Griesheim with Polish dances, and the Haßloch Newelhaube traditional costume group. This mix of regional and international customs gives the festival its special character.
Bands and Music
Regionally well-known bands perform on the stages. Mentioned are Grand Malör and Fine R.I.P. — both known from the southwestern German festival circuit and with a repertoire of cover versions, original pieces, and danceable classics suitable for Palatinate wine festivals.
