Lehmen Wine and Heritage Festival

Lehmen is a traditional Moselle wine village in the Untermosel municipal association in the Mayen-Koblenz district. With its location on the right bank of the Moselle, nestled between the steep slate slopes of the vineyards, Lehmen is a typical example of the distinctive cultural landscape of the Untermosel region. The Wine and Heritage Festival, held annually on the 4th weekend of June, is one of the central events of the village year.

The festival is jointly organized by Lehmer Razejunge e.V. and the local heritage association. The “Lehmer Razejunge” are a group of young men from the village dedicated to preserving local customs, particularly wine tasting – a tradition found in many Moselle villages, akin to bachelor fraternities. They play a central role in the wine festival and significantly shape its character.

The special highlight of the festival is the Razejunge wine tasting on Saturday evening, where the Razejunge present selected Moselle wines from their wineries and local vintners to the festival guests. Not only are the wines introduced, but also their history, the specifics of the vineyard sites, and the work of the vintners on the steep slopes.

The festival is accompanied by a classic wine festival program: a festival tent with live music, a wine stand with Moselle wines from various vintners, regional food, and the typical convivial Moselle atmosphere. The Moselle promenade in Lehmen provides a particularly beautiful setting for a summer wine festival, with views of the Moselle and the opposite vineyard slopes.

Lehmen is located in close proximity to Kobern-Gondorf, Kattenes, Hatzenport, and Löf – all Moselle villages with their own summer wine festivals. Those who wish to fully experience the Untermosel wine festival weekend can combine these events and discover the diversity of local wine culture.
