Brewery Tradition Meets City Anniversary
The Karlsberg Brewery from Homburg an der Saar is one of the largest and most traditional breweries in the Franco-German border region. With the Lautrer Braunacht, the brewery makes a special stop in Kaiserslautern on its tour, which in 2026 will be the third edition of the format. The 2026 edition also marks the premiere of an exclusive city anniversary beer, brewed by Karlsberg in cooperation with the city for the 750th anniversary of Kaiserslautern's city rights.
Program of the Braunacht
The Braunacht begins on Saturday, June 27th at 4 PM with the traditional barrel tapping. The program on the festival grounds runs until 8 PM, with beer service, tasting stands, regional gastronomy, and live music. From 7 PM, the surrounding gastronomic establishments will open and supplement the offerings for the expected large number of visitors. The format deliberately aims for a relaxed family time between late afternoon and evening.
Four Beer Specialties
The focus is on four beer styles from the Karlsberg range and special editions. Karlsberg Zwickel is a naturally cloudy, uncarbonated lager in the traditional brewer's style. Karlsberg Nachtschicht is a darker, stronger beer specifically developed for evening hours. Karlsberg Kirschbier is a seasonal specialty beer with a distinct cherry note. The premiere will be the exclusive city anniversary beer, created specifically for Kaiserslautern's 750th-anniversary celebration and presented to the public for the first time that evening.
Karlsberg and the Westpfalz Region
The connection between Karlsberg and the region is close: the brewery supplies gastronomy and trade throughout the Westpfalz region, sponsors regional events and clubs, and is familiar to many consumers through its brands Karlsberg, Mixery, and Karlsbräu. The Braunacht in Kaiserslautern makes this regional anchoring tangible and links it in 2026 with the city's central major cultural event.
