Volksfest with Tradition
The Laurenzimarkt in Ernsgaden is one of the most popular village Volksfeste in the Pfaffenhofen a.d.Ilm district. It is celebrated in honour of the patron saint St. Lawrence and has been a firm meeting point for the entire region for decades.
Three Days of Festivities
For three days at the beginning of August, the festival grounds in Ernsgaden transform into a place of conviviality. The event kicks off on Friday with a Frühschoppen (morning pint) at the town hall with a ceremonial beer tapping by the mayor. Saturday is dedicated to families, children, and seniors, while Sunday is the main festival day with a celebratory church service, lunch, and brass band music.
The Grand Vintage Car Meet
The highlight and flagship event is the Vintage Car Meet on Sunday afternoon: Over 400 historic vehicles – cars, tractors, and motorcycles – gather in Ernsgaden, weather permitting, followed by a lively Vintage Car Parade through the village. The meet is one of the largest of its kind in the region.
Hallertau Festival Culture
Ernsgaden is located in the heart of the Hallertau, the world's largest contiguous hop-growing region. The Laurenzimarkt combines the traditions of the patron saint's day celebration, village conviviality, and vintage car enthusiasm into a unique Volksfest.
