Grand Town Festival in the Lauchhammer Palace Park
Lauchhammer is located in southern Brandenburg, in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, on the border with Saxony — a city that, like few others, stands for the industrial history of Lower Lusatia. It is known for its iron casting tradition, whose roots date back to the 18th century, and for the later lignite and briquetting industry. The town festival in the palace park is the annual counterpart to this industrial identity: an open, public festival that brings together the different city districts (Lauchhammer-East, -West, -Center, -South) for a weekend.
The venue is the historic palace park in Lauchhammer-West, a spacious green area with ponds, old trees, and remnants of the former castle complex of Baroness von Löwendal. Several stages and areas are set up here for the town festival: a main stage, a family area, a gastronomic mile, and a funfair with a Ferris wheel and rides. The park is accessible, and dogs are welcome.
In 2025, the town festival was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Lauchhammer's industrial culture and was celebrated with a steampunk theme — a charming tribute to the city's iron casting tradition. For 2026, the town festival is again announced for the last weekend in August; the city is thus continuing its tradition of hosting the region's largest civic festival at the end of summer.
Co-organizer is the association pro agro, which organizes direct marketing in Brandenburg. Through pro agro, local producers, artisans, and small breweries from southern Brandenburg are integrated into the town festival — a bridge between urban Lusatian tradition and the rural surroundings.
As with most Brandenburg town festivals, admission to the festival grounds in the palace park is free. Food, drinks, and individual rides are paid for on-site. The town festival is considered family-friendly and accessible and regularly attracts several tens of thousands of visitors from all over Lusatia.
The Lauchhammer Town Festival 2026 is announced for the weekend of August 28 to 30, 2026, in Lauchhammer-West Palace Park — the traditional last weekend in August. The organizer is the City of Lauchhammer in cooperation with the pro agro association, which integrates local direct marketers into the program. Two stages, a funfair with a Ferris wheel and rides, as well as a gastronomic and market area will be set up on the festival grounds in the historic palace park. Free admission. The detailed program, stage acts, and family events will be published in advance by the city administration.
