Ornbau is one of the smallest towns in Middle Franconia, picturesquely located on the Altmühl river in the Ansbach district. Once a year, the "Culture in the Old Town" series brings great music to the historic St. Jakobus town church. In 2026, it's the Windsbach Boys Choir — one of the world-renowned German boys' choirs, delighting audiences with sacred and secular choral music.

The Windsbach Boys Choir

The Windsbach Boys Choir was founded in 1946 in nearby Windsbach and performs internationally at the highest level. Its repertoire ranges from Bach motets and oratorios to Romantic and contemporary choral literature. In 2026, the choir celebrates its 80th anniversary, which will be extensively celebrated in October — the concert in Ornbau is part of this special choir year.

St. Jakobus Town Church as a Concert Venue

With its acoustics and historic church interior, the St. Jakobus town church provides a fitting setting for an a cappella and choral concert. The concert is the musical highlight of the Ornbau summer cultural program and coincides with the Tournament of Partner Cities (July 10–14, 2026), which celebrates the international city partnerships of the Altmühl town.
