Illuminated Advent weekend in Hermeskeil City Park on the 3rd Advent weekend
Hermeskeil lies in the heart of the Hochwald, the southwestern foothills of the Hunsrück. The City Park — a green lung in the middle of the town — becomes the main stage for a Christmas market during Advent, whose hallmark is its light staging. Fairy lights in trees, illuminated paths, glowing sculptures, and atmospheric background projections transform the park into an immersive light installation.
The market takes place on December 12th and 13th, 2026, the 3rd Advent weekend. This late positioning in the Advent calendar makes the market an alternative to the large Moselle markets and positions Hermeskeil as a Hochwald Advent destination. The combination of nature park, forest, and illuminated city fits the region's tourism profile.
The program is aimed at families and offers, in addition to mulled wine and specialty food stalls, a children's program with St. Nicholas, craft activities, and small stage performances. Local clubs and businesses provide refreshments, and artisans from the region present their work. The atmosphere is familial and manageable.
Hermeskeil hosts the Hermeskeil City Week (July) and the Farmers' and Craftsmen's Market (October) in the summer. Lichterglanz im Park rounds off the event calendar in winter and gives tourism in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park a fixed Advent date.
The 2026 program continues the proven light staging of the City Park. Hermeskeil's clubs and businesses provide refreshments, and the family program attracts visitors from the entire Hochwald region.
Concert and St. Nicholas dates will be communicated on the Hermeskeil city event page before the market begins.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
