Saarland's biggest Schlager and Mallorca party on the Bergmanns Alm Reden
The history of the Bergmanns Alm is one of the more remarkable examples of structural change in Saarland: On the grounds of the former Reden Colliery, one of Saarland's last hard coal mines (1846 to 1995), a tourist "experience site" has developed around the former slag heap, stretching from the Saarpolygon (the memorial to Saarland's coal mining) to the Bergmanns Alm – an alpine hut atmosphere with views over the Neunkirchen district. This unusual festival site hosts one of Saarland's largest Schlager open-airs annually: La Fiesta Festival Saarland.
Since its inception in 2019, the festival has established itself as a fixture of the Saarland's Whitsun weekend. The date on Whit Sunday is attractive for several reasons: May weather, long sunset, and the following day (Whit Monday) being a public holiday. Between 6,000 and 7,500 guests are expected – a scale that makes the Bergmanns Alm the Saarland hotspot for the Schlager and Mallorca scene.
The 2026 lineup brings together the most important current names in the German Mallorca and party Schlager scene: Mia Julia (Ballermann icon, feared and celebrated), Lorenz Büffel (“Johnny Däpp”), Julian Sommer (newcomer to the Schlager scene), Nancy Franck, Rumbombe, Frenzy, and Breitner. The selection is a clear statement: La Fiesta doesn't aim to be a sophisticated Schlager evening with ZDF character, but rather the Saarland version of a Bierkönig show – with Whitsun weather, sunset, and an open-air dance floor.
The audience is diverse – from the Schlager party generation in their early 20s to Schlager lovers in their mid-50s. Costumes (Hawaiian shirts, flamingo swim rings, everything in pink) are explicitly encouraged. Anyone who has been to Bierkönig or Megapark on the island of Mallorca knows roughly what happens at Bergmanns Alm Reden.
The municipality of Schiffweiler in the Neunkirchen district, with just over 16,000 inhabitants, is a typical former mining community in Saarland. With the end of coal mining in 1995, the town had to completely reinvent itself; the "Erlebnisort Reden" (Reden Experience Site) with the Saarpolygon, Bergmanns Alm, and industrial monuments is one of the most prominent symbols of Saarland's structural change. The fact that people now dance to Lorenz Büffel and Mia Julia on a former slag heap has its own unique Saarland twist.
The event transforms the area around the Bergmanns Alm into Saarland's largest Schlager and Mallorca open-air festival. Tickets have been available for advance purchase since summer 2025; preparations are underway "at full speed," according to the organizer (Instagram announcement). As usual, the exact performance times of the individual artists will be announced a few weeks before the event.
