Two days of open-air festival by the Kulturinitiative Paulus in the Pauluspark Amphitheatre – Pop, Rock, Soul, Jazz, and Chansons in Pirmasens
The KUPA Open Air Festival is an initiative of KUPA Kulturinitiative Paulus, a volunteer cultural initiative from the Paulus district of Pirmasens. The initiative is dedicated to local cultural work and has been organizing the annual open-air festival in Pauluspark for years – an event that has established itself as an insider tip in the West Palatinate festival calendar.
The venue for the festival is the Pauluspark Amphitheatre, a semi-circular open-air stage in a park in the Paulus district of Pirmasens. Its design is inspired by ancient amphitheatres: rising tiers of seats, a semi-circular arrangement, an open stage without a covered seating area. This architectural form creates a special concert atmosphere and excellent acoustics, which are very well suited to the format of small to medium-sized open-air concerts.
The 2026 programme covers a stylistic range that KUPA has cultivated for years: Pop, Rock, Soul, Jazz, and Chansons. The opening on Friday, June 26, 2026 (7 PM – 10 PM), features a concert with Donovan and Aston. The complete lineup for both festival days will be published by KUPA in the spring.
Pirmasens was once the shoe capital of Germany; with the decline of the shoe industry from the 1980s onwards, the city has undergone profound structural change. Today, it is increasingly focusing on culture, tourism, and new economic sectors. Initiatives like KUPA are particularly valuable in this context: they create local cultural offerings, revitalize the district, and build their own identity beyond the major institutional cultural providers.
Tickets are available in advance for €20; at the box office, the price increases to €23. A combined ticket for both festival days costs €32, offering the most affordable access to the entire programme.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept of the KUPA Open Air. The complete 2026 lineup will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
