Concept
Kunst:Offen is the largest open studio event in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. On the four days around Pentecost, artists in Vorpommern open their studios, workshops, and galleries to the public. Visitors can experience the creative process up close, talk to the artists, and purchase works on site.
Locations and Disciplines
Around 1,000 artists at approximately 500 locations participate in Vorpommern — spread across Rügen, the old town of Stralsund, Barth, the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, and the surrounding area. The disciplines represented range from painting and photography to textile art, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, printmaking, and glass art.
Local Context
The event series was launched in 1994 and has since become a fixed date in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's Pentecost calendar. With its decentralized structure, it shapes the image of Vorpommern as an artists' region — many painters, photographers, and sculptors have settled in the Hanseatic cities and along the Baltic coast in recent decades. Admission to all locations is free.
