Maritime Festival and Season Opener for the Zees Boat Regatta
The Hafenfest Zingst takes place annually in June, transforming the picturesque harbor of the Baltic Sea resort into an extensive festival mile along Hafenstraße and Zingster Strom. It is one of the most beautiful maritime festivals on the Vorpommern Baltic coast. The organizer is the Kur- und Tourismus GmbH Zingst.
The centerpiece of the festival is the Net and Zees Boat Regatta, marking the official start of the Zees boat regatta season on the Barther Bodden. The historic Zeesboote — fishing boats with characteristic red-brown sails — gather in the harbor and head out onto the water together. Races are held in three classes; large and medium-sized boats complete several laps over a triangular course. The award ceremony for all boat classes takes place in the early evening.
On land, a diverse program accompanies the events: sea shanty choirs and shanty groups, live music in the evenings, a craft market with regional specialties, smoked fish tasting, lighthouse models, and harbor tours. There are hands-on activities for children — the Hafenfest is designed for the whole family.
Zingst is located on the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, on the edge of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. For centuries, Zeesboote have shaped the maritime image of the Bodden coast, and the Hafenfest keeps this sailing heritage alive.
From June 19 to 21, 2026, Zingst will celebrate its Hafenfest along Hafenstraße and Zingster Strom.
The highlight is the 21st Net and Zees Boat Regatta on Saturday: the Zeesboote will start the regatta on the Barther Bodden around 1 p.m., with the award ceremony for all classes following between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Onshore, sea shanty choirs, live music, and a craft market with smoked fish tasting will provide entertainment.
Admission to the festival is generally free. Individual program items, amusement rides, and gastronomic offers may incur charges.
By car via the B105 and Halbinselstraße to Zingst, then to the harbor. By train to Ribnitz-Damgarten or Velgast, then by bus.
A weekend in June, Friday to Sunday. Admission to the festival is generally free; individual program items, amusement rides, or gastronomic offers may incur charges.
The Zees boat regatta start on Saturday at 1 p.m. is the visual highlight — easily observable from the harbor or the Bodden shore.
