About KUNST/MITTE
KUNST/MITTE — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of KUNST/MITTE runs for four days in Magdeburg. The regular application deadline for exhibitors is now open following a successful early-bird phase. In February 2026, the satellite format KUNST/MITTE Karlsruhe was also launched, supported by three cooperating galleries — a sign of the fair's growing supra-regional significance.

An Art Fair with Political Ambitions
KUNST/MITTE clearly positions itself: not Art Basel, not Frieze — but Central Germany. The fair sees itself as a platform for artistic positions "that find little space at major commercial fairs." Galleries from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Brandenburg, and Berlin showcase their work here, supplemented by international guests and a dedicated format for young artists.
Young Art and Collector's Format
Two program lines make KUNST/MITTE special: the Young Artist Space (YAS), where emerging artists can exhibit through a separate application process — an investment in the next generation. And the Collector's Dinner on Saturday, a three-course meal with performative interventions, curated by Frank Schablewski ("3 Gänge Kunst"), moderated by Ilka Hein, with piano by Andreas Reimann. The dinner requires a ticket and is considered a central networking event for the collector scene.
Magdeburg as an Art Hub
The state capital of Saxony-Anhalt (independent city, AGS 15003) has developed into an art city in recent years — also thanks to institutions like the Kunstmuseum Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen and the Forum Gestaltung. KUNST/MITTE has been the city's most important industry event since its inception. Additionally relevant in 2026: In February 2026, the satellite format KUNST/MITTE Karlsruhe was launched, organized by three cooperating galleries — a sign that the fair is expanding.
