Kulturzelt Wolfhagen

One of Hesse's oldest Kulturzelt festivals

Since the mid-1990s, Wolfhagen, a small town in the Kassel district of Hesse, has become the musical hotspot of North Hesse every early summer. In its 30-year history, Kulturzelt Wolfhagen has seen over 250,000 visitors and 200 artists. The venue is the Palastzelt in Stadtpark Teichwiesen, which holds around 2,200 spectators – large enough for national headliners, small enough for an intimate atmosphere.

2026 Lineup: 12 Days, 13 Acts

The 2026 program exemplifies the festival's spectrum: Schlager party, Heavy Metal, piano cabaret, comedy, Hard Rock, Family Metal, Singer-Songwriter, House, Hip-Hop, and Alpine Brass follow one after another – a program that focuses on genre diversity rather than profile sharpening.

Comedy and Cabaret

The festival is not purely musical. Three comedy and cabaret evenings complement the lineup:

• Bodo Wartke – Piano cabaret at its finest
• Atze Schröder – Comedy classic
• Quatsch Comedy Club – Stand-up format with multiple acts

Family Special

A Wolfhagen specialty: On Sunday, June 7th, Heavysaurus performs during the day – the Finnish "Family Metal" band that introduces children to riffs and headbanging. In the evening, classical pianist Louis Philippson performs in the same tent. This double feature is programmatic: the Kulturzelt sees itself as a family program AND a serious concert hall.

Wolfhagen – Small Town, Big Festival

Wolfhagen has around 13,000 inhabitants and is located in the Habichtswald Nature Park, about 20 kilometers west of Kassel. The town can be reached by train from Kassel in 30 minutes, and even faster by car via the A44. Those attending a Wolfhagen concert often combine it with a day trip to the Habichtswald area or a visit to Kassel city.
