135 Years of Freie Volksbühne Berlin

Kulturvolk is the Berlin brand of Freie Volksbühne Berlin e.V., an association founded in 1890 dedicated to making culture accessible to broad sections of society. Today, the association organizes one of Berlin's largest cultural membership pools, offering discounted tickets for members and its own performance venue in the Piscator Saal at Ruhrstraße 6 in Wilmersdorf.

The Summer Festival – An Open House for the Cultural City

Once a year, Kulturvolk opens its garden and courtyard for a summer festival that provides a platform for Berlin's top event organizers to present their season. Around 40 artists perform on two stages – drama, music, children's theater, dance. Exhibitors include the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Berliner Symphoniker, the Bar jeder Vernunft, and the BKA-Theater.

Family-Friendly and Free of Charge

The festival is free and specifically aimed at families. Children's theater on one of the two stages, hands-on activity stations on the ground, several food trucks in the courtyard. Those considering a Kulturvolk membership can get information on-site from the teams of all major institutions and pre-order season tickets at a discount.

Ruhrstraße 6 – A Place with Theater History

The address Ruhrstraße 6 in Wilmersdorf houses the Siegfried-Nestriepke-Haus, a center of the Berlin theater scene since the post-war period. The Piscator Saal is named after Erwin Piscator, one of the most important representatives of political theater in the 1920s. The adjacent garden and courtyard are regularly used for open-air events in the summer.
