Forchheim's Summer Culture Under Old Trees

The KulturSommerQuartier is Forchheim's newest, but now established, open-air culture festival. Since 2021, the city of Forchheim's cultural office has been transforming an area in the south of the city centre at Königsbad – under old trees and on an open-air stage – into a summer event space. In 2026, the festival will be in its sixth edition.

Diversity Between Singer-Songwriter and BigBand

The programme deliberately crosses genre boundaries:

• Singer-Songwriter – in 2026, including Anna Depenbusch
• Rock and Pop – Rock of Fame (Cover band's 20th anniversary)
• Blues and Rhythm & Blues – Keller Mountain Blues Band (11 musicians)
• BigBand and Jazz – Swingaraiders BigBand 25th anniversary with Swing, Funk, and Latin Jazz
• Balkan and Electronic – Shantel & Bucovina Club Soundsystem
• Theatre – Fränkischer Theatersommer with Shaw's Napoleon satire
• Children's Circus Festival with around 100 young performers
• Library Festival, Singing Festival, Readings as accompanying cultural programmes

Königsbad as a Festival Backdrop

The Königsbad Forchheim is one of the largest outdoor and indoor swimming pools in Upper Franconia; the adjacent park offers a shady, atmospheric festival area under old trees. The KulturSommerQuartier uses this backdrop as an open-air stage, so many concerts and events take place outdoors with a view of the park.

Forchheim is the district capital of the Landkreis Forchheim in Upper Franconia (Bavaria) and the gateway to the Fränkische Schweiz. With the Annafest, KulturSommerQuartier, "Überall Musik", and Christmas market, the city is among those district capitals in Upper Franconia that maintain an astonishingly broad and year-round cultural programme – the KulturSommerQuartier is the summer highlight of this programme.
