Concert and event series of the Kusel district in the 2026/2027 season
The Kusel district has been investing specifically in a high-quality cultural offering for decades — an investment that is by no means a given in a rural area. The annual culture programme, with its concerts, comedy nights, cabaret performances, and theatre shows, is a central element of this cultural work and contributes significantly to keeping the region culturally visible.
The Fritz-Wunderlich-Halle is named after Fritz Wunderlich, born in Kusel in 1930 — one of the most important lyric tenors of the 20th century, whose early death in 1966 shocked the opera world. The hall serves as a concert hall and venue for a wide range of performances. The Horst Eckel Haus, in turn, is named after the 1954 World Cup winner, born in Vogelbach (Bruchmühlbach-Miesau municipality) in 1932, who remained connected to the district his entire life. Cultural events also take place there.
The 2026/2027 season kicks off in November 2026 with a dense series of high-calibre events. Confirmed acts include: November 8, 2026, The Les Clöchards; November 9, 2026, The Sweet with their “Rockin' For The Eternity” tour; November 14, 2026, Gitte Haenning, the Danish Schlager legend; November 21, 2026, the Autumn Concert of the Westpfälzisches Sinfonieorchester; November 27, 2026, Chako Habekost with Palatinate comedy; November 28, 2026, Creedence Clearwater Review as a tribute show; December 5, 2026, Die Üblichen Verdächtigen with their traditional Christmas concert.
Over the years, the culture programme of the Kusel district has established itself as a reliable venue for high-quality cultural events throughout the West Palatinate. Visitors travel from Saarland, from the Donnersbergkreis, and from the Kaiserslautern district. The mix of international stars, regional greats, and the classical music of the Westpfälzisches Sinfonieorchester makes the programme a cultural flagship of the region.
The 2026/2027 season opener maintains the high standard of the culture programme set in previous years. The events are spread across the Fritz-Wunderlich-Halle and the Horst Eckel Haus, both located in the town of Kusel. With the concert by The Sweet, one of the defining glam rock bands of the 1970s comes to the West Palatinate, while Gitte Haenning, as a Danish Schlager legend, appeals to an older target audience. Comedy and Palatinate dialect are represented by Chako Habekost, classical music by the Autumn Concert of the Westpfälzisches Sinfonieorchester, and rock by Creedence Clearwater Review.
Nov 8: The Les Clöchards (Chamber music in the culture programme). Nov 9: The Sweet — Rockin' For The Eternity Tour (Glam rock classics). Nov 14: Gitte Haenning (Danish Schlager legend). Nov 21: Autumn Concert Westpfälzisches Sinfonieorchester (Classical). Nov 27: Chako Habekost (Palatinate comedy and cabaret). Nov 28: Creedence Clearwater Review (Tribute show).
