About Kultur im Schloss Landestrost

With 'Kultur im Schloss', the Culture team of the Region Hannover uses the indoor and outdoor spaces of Schloss Landestrost in Neustadt am Rübenberge throughout the summer. From the concert hall and the Amtsgarten to the underground casemates, the historic premises are transformed into special venues for classical music, jazz, pop, singer-songwriters, and readings. The 2026 season runs from July 1st to the end of August, with extensions into September: Sebastian Krumbiegel (Die Prinzen) on September 10th and a Baroque concert with countertenor Alex Potter on September 20th round off the program. One of the most renowned concert series in the Region Hannover and a cultural highlight in a Baroque Renaissance palace.

A Renaissance Palace as a Stage

Schloss Landestrost is one of the most important cultural-historical buildings in the Region Hannover. Built at the end of the 16th century at the behest of Duke Erich II of Brunswick-Lüneburg, it is one of the oldest Renaissance palaces in Northern Germany. Today, it houses, among other things, the district archive and is a venue for the Region Hannover.

Three Special Venues

  • Concert Hall – for chamber music and smaller musical formats
  • Amtsgarten – open-air concerts in the historic garden
  • Casemates – underground vaults for concerts with special acoustics

2026 Program

The 2026 season starts on July 1st and runs until August 30th (last evening August 26th). It includes concerts from classical, jazz, folk, singer-songwriter, and pop genres, as well as readings. Two special concerts will follow in September:

  • Thursday, September 10, 2026 – Sebastian Krumbiegel (singer, Die Prinzen)
  • Sunday, September 20, 2026 – Baroque concert with countertenor Alex Potter

Ambition and Profile

Kultur im Schloss is aimed at a sophisticated, curious audience seeking the connection between historic architecture and a high-quality concert program. The series thrives on the intimate character of the spaces: no anonymous festival feeling, but concerts where artists and audience are on equal footing.
