Over Six Decades of Festival Week
The Krumbach Festival Week is one of the most traditional festival weeks in Bavarian Swabia. The organizer is the Musikverein 1816 e.V. Krumbach, a high-performing brass orchestra with around 60 active musicians, which has been organizing the festival week for over sixty years. 2026 marks the 68th edition – proof of the festival's firm establishment in the life of the town.
Program of Music and Folk Festival
The festival week combines folk festival atmosphere with high-quality brass music. Recurring highlights include:
- Exhibition opening at the Sparkasse
- Concert by the Krumbach Music Association in the market square
- Star march of the district orchestras
- Beer tapping ceremony by the mayor with the Krumbach Music Association
- Nine different brass bands and two bands throughout the festival week
The Music Association as Organizer
The Musikverein 1816 Krumbach is led by Lukas Weiss and actively engages in youth work with two youth orchestras. In addition to the festival week, the spring concert and the atmospheric Advent concert shape the association's year. However, the festival week is the undisputed highlight and flagship of the association.
Regional Context
Krumbach is located in the district of Günzburg in the state of Bavaria, in the heart of Bavarian Swabia between the Danube and the Allgäu. The festival week here is a unifying community event that brings together the town and the surrounding orchestras of the region and cultivates the Swabian brass music tradition.
