Castle Courtyard as Festival Ground
The courtyard of Schöningen Castle is one of the most beautiful urban spaces in the Helmstedt region. Enclosed by the historic castle wings, it offers space for several hundred visitors, a stage, and various catering stands. The acoustics of the enclosed courtyard give the music a special impact.
Wine and Beer in Peaceful Coexistence
The festival deliberately avoids an either/or approach. Wine lovers will find wines from the northern German growing regions, primarily from Saale-Unstrut and Rheinhessen. Beer enthusiasts can choose from regional Pils, Wheat beers, Helles, and possibly craft beer specialities. This creates a festival ground for all tastes.
Colourful Music Programme
Regional bands, cover bands, and solo artists alternate on stage. The programme is deliberately broad – from Schlager and Pop to Rock and Country, and classics from the 80s and 90s. The music serves as a mood enhancer and dance motivator.
Schöninger Werbegemeinschaft as Organiser
The organiser is the Schöninger Werbegemeinschaft e.V., an association of Schöningen retailers, restaurateurs, and service providers. The Wine and Beer Festival is part of their annual commitment to a vibrant city centre life and complements the Old Town Festival and the Christmas Market.
Gastronomic Diversity
In addition to wine and beer, the festival offers a gastronomic selection – Bratwurst, Käsespätzle, Flammkuchen, vegetarian options, sweets. Schöningen's restaurateurs supplement the offerings with outdoor service in the city centre.
Pure Atmosphere
The Wine and Beer Festival is one of the most convivial weekends in Schöningen's event calendar. If you want to experience the Helmstedt region, this is the place to be: regional roots, a relaxed atmosphere, good vibes guaranteed.
