Two open-air evenings of the Chemnitz indie rockers on the Parkbühne
The Parkbühne Wuhlheide in Berlin-Oberschöneweide, with around 17,000 seats, is one of the capital's largest open-air auditoriums. Built from 1949–1950 as the Pioneer Republic of the GDR, it was gradually converted into a concert arena after reunification. Today, Wuhlheide is one of Germany's most important summer stages — Rammstein, Die Toten Hosen, Roger Waters, and Roxy Music have played here, as have Patti Smith and Bon Iver.
The Chemnitz indie rock band Kraftklub, fronted by Felix Kummer, has been active since 2009 and is one of the defining German-language rock acts of the 2010s and 2020s. With albums like "In Schwarz", "Keine Nacht für Niemand", and "Kargo", released in 2024, the band has helped define the German indie genre. For 2026, Kraftklub announced the "Sterben in Karl-Marx-Stadt" tour — the title plays with Chemnitz's former name (Karl-Marx-Stadt until 1990) and draws on the band's tradition of generously mythologizing the local.
The Berlin dates of the tour fall on Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, 2026 — both evenings at the Parkbühne, both already sold out for months. For Kraftklub, the double concert constellation in Berlin has become standard: demand in the city regularly far exceeds the capacity of a single concert.
What distinguishes the Parkbühne from the large Berlin arenas is its location: in the middle of the Volkspark Wuhlheide, surrounded by pine forest, with an S-Bahn station directly at the entrance. Those who arrive early can take a stroll through the park before the concert or visit the neighboring FEZ-Berlin (Family Leisure Center). Picnics on the lawn before entry, beer from the park's beer garden, sunset over the treetops — Wuhlheide concerts are summer rituals for Berlin music fans.
The double concerts in Wuhlheide are among the most discussed Berlin appearances of the tour. Kraftklub will play on Friday, August 21, and Saturday, August 22, 2026, each around 8 PM (doors usually open at 6 PM). Both dates were already sold out weeks after the pre-sale started — a testament to the band's status as one of the biggest German-language live acts.
Support acts and performance times are traditionally confirmed four to six weeks before the concert date. In previous years, the band often opened their tour for German indie and hip-hop acts (most recently, among others, Kummer solo, Trettmann, Edwin Rosen). Resale is officially handled via fanSALE on eventim.
The exact setlist for the two Berlin evenings will only be announced shortly before the tour. Based on previous releases, the audience can expect:
