Volksfest with parade and fireworks at the pier
The new steel and wooden pier in Koserow has become a landmark since its construction, replacing the old wooden pier that had previously suffered storm damage multiple times. For decades, the Pier Festival has taken place around this pier and its forecourt – the most important summer weekend in the Baltic Sea resort's calendar.
The centerpiece of the festival is the historical parade, in which over 300 locals participate. The parade touches upon themes from Koserow's history – the construction of the village church, the legend of Klaus Störtebeker's treasure on Streckelsberg, the first bathers of the spa era, holidays during GDR times. Marching bands and drum corps accompany the procession through the village.
The festival spans three days on the first weekend of July. Local and regional bands play on the stage by the beach to the left of the pier, supplemented by DJ sets in the evenings. A colorful market with food stalls, regional products, and handicrafts springs up around the pier forecourt. Families can find play areas on dedicated activity zones.
The grand finale is the spectacular fireworks display over the Baltic Sea, launched from the pier. Thousands of guests line the beach and promenade to witness the spectacle – one of the lasting images that come to mind when thinking of Usedom.
Koserow is part of the "Usedom Amber Resorts" (along with Zempin, Loddin, and Ückeritz) in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. The Pier Festival is listed in the official event calendar of the Koserow Tourist Information Office and is announced in detail on bernsteinbaeder-usedom.de.
The 32nd Koserow Pier Festival will take place from July 3 to 5, 2026, around the pier and the beach promenade of the Baltic Sea resort. The program includes the historical parade with over 300 participants and marching bands, live music on the beach stage, a colorful market with food, craft, and regional stalls, a family program, and the highlight: the grand fireworks display over the Baltic Sea. Detailed band lineups, parade schedule, and program items will be published by the Koserow Tourist Information Office in advance on bernsteinbaeder-usedom.de.
