76th edition of the Konzer Homeland and Wine Festival on the Market Square from July 17th to 20th, 2026 with Saar-Obermosel wine royalty candidates, fireworks, and an Old & Youngtimer exhibition
The Konzer Homeland and Wine Festival is one of the most traditional folk and wine festivals in the Saar-Obermosel region. With the 76th edition from July 17th to 20th, 2026, an exceptional anniversary year is on the horizon: Since the early post-war years, the festival on the Konz Market Square has become a firm fixture in the region's cultural and tourist calendar. The organizer is the City of Konz in close cooperation with local associations and the region's vintners.
Konz is located at the confluence of the Moselle and Saar rivers – a geographically significant point that makes the city the "Gateway to Saar Wine". The Saar, with its prime vineyards in Wiltingen, Schoden, Ockfen, Kanzem, and Ayl, and the Obermosel, with its Elbling specialty, together form a distinct wine profile that is presented in its full breadth at the Homeland and Wine Festival.
Friday, July 17th, opens the festival with a dual program: On one hand, the candidates for the Saar-Obermosel wine royalty – the future wine queen and her princesses – will be presented, who will be elected in a separate procedure after the festival. On the other hand, live music and fireworks will provide a festive start. Saturday, July 18th, is musically focused with several live acts and a packed program on the Market Square. Sunday, July 19th, starts early – from 8 am – with a large Old and Youngtimer exhibition, which has attracted classic car enthusiasts from all over the region for years. Sunday is complemented by a family program, a morning pint (Frühschoppen), and musical performances.
The festival grounds are lined with numerous food stalls and, of course, the serving of Saar-Obermosel wines – Riesling, Elbling, Burgundy, sparkling wines. Admission is free. Konz is easily accessible by train (Trier-Saarbrücken line) and via the B419/B51; it is only a few minutes from Trier Central Station.
The 76th edition in 2026 continues the proven four-day format and is a central summer event of the Saar-Obermosel Tourism Association.
Early arrival on Sunday is recommended, as the Old and Youngtimer exhibition is traditionally very well attended.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the City of Konz in early summer. Proven key points:
