Three Days of Summer on Lake Constance
The Stadtgarten Konstanz is one of the most beautiful parklands in Southern Germany. Located directly on Lake Constance between the harbor, the Inselhotel, and the concert shell, it offers classic city garden culture with old trees, well-tended flowerbeds, and a historic concert shell from 1887. From Wednesday, August 5th, to Friday, August 7th, 2026, the Stadtgartenfest will transform this park into an open-air summer stage — three days of festivities from 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM, three days of top-class Lake Constance atmosphere.
Eight Restaurateurs from the Lake Constance Region
A particular strength is the gastronomy. Eight regional vendors — Ko'Ono (pizza and Mediterranean cuisine), Fischhütte Konstanz (Lake Constance fish), Burro Burro (vegetarian and vegan tacos), Khibar (oriental specialties), Deyer's Hofeis (ice cream from their own production), and others — will each set up their own stalls. A nice sustainability initiative: the tableware comes from "collected porcelain" rescued from the trash in previous years. The colorful mix of crockery gives the festival its unmistakable character.
Illuminated Concert Shell and Hammocks
The visual highlight is the illumination after dark. The historic concert shell is projected with light patterns — designs of sun, Lake Constance waves, and floral motifs move across the curved wooden structure. Colorful lanterns hang in the trees, and hammocks are strung between the trunks, which visitors can use free of charge. Those who wish can lie in a hammock for half an hour, gaze through the leafy branches at the Lake Constance sky, and enjoy the background music.
Bands, DJs, and Sunset Sounds
Regional bands and DJs alternate on the main stage in the concert shell. Pop, soul, indie, acoustic folk, plus electronic music from the "Sunset Sounds" collective, which cultivates its own electronic format at the "Villa Abendrot" by the harbor. The atmosphere is familiar and relaxed — unlike at large festivals, the focus here is not on headliners, but on the continuous, well-composed atmosphere over three summer evenings.
Children's and Family Program
Families will find a dedicated program. Sponsor Stadtwerke Konstanz finances marble runs, throwing games, and a balance course. Several small stages offer children's concerts in the late afternoon. A summer market with regional artisans features everything from ceramics and textiles to jewelry. Admission to the Stadtgartenfest is free — an unusual generosity that sets the festival apart from similar events in Southern Germany.
Prelude to the Seenachtfest
On Saturday, August 8th, 2026, the big Seenachtfest follows — Southern Germany's most famous summer festival on Lake Constance with the renowned grand fireworks display from the lake. The Stadtgartenfest and Seenachtfest are logistically and atmospherically connected, but organizationally separate: while the Stadtgartenfest remains free and intimate, the Seenachtfest is ticketed and suitable for mass audiences. Many Konstanz residents combine both events into a four-day summer highlight.
