Cologne Autumn Volksfest — Volksfest with Cathedral View

The Cologne Autumn Volksfest on the Deutzer Werft is, alongside the Easter Kirmes and the Summer Kirmes, the third central Volksfest date in the Cologne funfair season. The venue is the Deutzer Werft on the right bank of the Rhine, between the Deutzer Brücke and Severinsbrücke — one of the most spectacular Volksfest locations in Germany, with a direct view of Cologne Cathedral across the Rhine.

Jupiter Ferris Wheel and Wild Mouse

The autumn edition is traditionally known for its large rides:

• Jupiter — Ferris wheel with a height of 50 meters and a panoramic view of Cologne Cathedral, the city centre, and the Rhine promenade
• Wilde Maus — classic roller coaster
• Break Dancer, Music Express, Bumper Cars Formula 1
• Classic carousels for families
• Shooting galleries, lottery stalls, confectionery, snack, and beer stands

Family Day and Pink Monday

Highlights of the programme traditionally include:

• Family Day (usually November 2nd or the first weekday Family Day) — half-price on rides and stalls, from 1:00 PM
• Rosa Montag (Pink Monday) — Rainbow Day with a special atmosphere
• Fireworks Evening with a grand firework display over the Rhine promenade

2026 Edition — Status to be Clarified

The 2025 edition of the Cologne Autumn Volksfest has been cancelled due to legal disputes over the usage rights of the Deutzer Werft. These disputes primarily concern the Easter Kirmes 2026; their impact on the Autumn Volksfest 2026 is not yet conclusively clarified at the current stage of reporting. Deutzer Werft — First-Class Volksfest Location

The Deutzer Werft on the right bank of the Rhine in Cologne-Deutz is one of the best Volksfest locations in Europe: panoramic views of the Cathedral, high visibility from both banks of the Rhine, direct connection to the public transport network (S-Bahn Köln-Messe/Deutz, Stadtbahn). It is used several times a year for the major Cologne Volksfeste, as well as for concerts and large events like the finale of Kölner Lichter.

Cologne — Funfair Capital on the Rhine

With its major Volksfeste (Easter Kirmes Deutz, Summer Kirmes, Autumn Volksfest, Carnival), the Kirchweih festivals of the Veedel (districts), and the large city festivals, Cologne (a city district in North Rhine-Westphalia, approx. 1.1 million inhabitants) is one of the cities in Germany with the most Volksfeste. The Gemeinschaft Kölner Schausteller (GKS), a cooperative, is responsible for a large part of this programme — a traditional institution with roots in the 19th century.
