In the Romanesque Imperial Cathedral of Lothair III, the organizers present four top-class concerts in autumn 2026: On September 5, 2026, at 7:30 PM, Hamburg chanson singer Anna Depenbusch will perform; on September 12, Nora Thiele with 'Electro Meets Classic'; on September 19, the sound stories of Stefan Temmingh & Margret Koell; and on September 27 at 4 PM, the Staatsorchester Braunschweig with Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Felix Gutgesell as violin soloist. The Cathedral Concerts combine classical music, chanson, crossover, and baroque diversity under the roof of the Imperial Cathedral. Tickets available via Reservix.

A Concert Tradition Since 1980

The Königslutter Cathedral Concerts have been held annually since 1980, making them one of the oldest continuously programmed concert series in Lower Saxony. The initiative came from music lovers in Königslutter who wanted to utilize the unique acoustics of the Imperial Cathedral for a sophisticated concert program.

Imperial Cathedral as a Concert Hall

The Romanesque Imperial Cathedral of Lothair III offers acoustics that no modern hall can replicate. The high stone walls, the vault, and the sparse furnishings create a warm, resonant sound that particularly enhances voices and acoustic instruments.

Anna Depenbusch — September 5, 2026, 7:30 PM

Hamburg-based singer and pianist Anna Depenbusch is one of the most distinctive voices in German chanson. Her songs combine literary texts with finely crafted melodies and ironically tender wit. In the Imperial Cathedral, she will present a program of her hits and new pieces.

Nora Thiele — Electro Meets Classic, September 12, 2026, 7:30 PM

Percussionist Nora Thiele brings a crossover program to the cathedral with 'Electro Meets Classic,' blending early music and electronic sounds. Frame drum, hang drum, electronics, and baroque influences create a meditative, pulsating soundscape.

Stefan Temmingh & Margret Koell — Sound Stories, September 19, 2026, 7:30 PM

Dutch-South African recorder virtuoso Stefan Temmingh and Austrian harpist Margret Koell present a baroque chamber music program featuring works by Telemann, Handel, Vivaldi, and lesser-known masters. 'Sound Stories' combines music with narrative moments.

Staatsorchester Braunschweig — Vivaldi's Four Seasons, September 27, 2026, 4 PM

The season concludes with the Staatsorchester Braunschweig and violinist Felix Gutgesell. The program features one of the most popular works in music history — Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. A concert afternoon in the late summer light.
