Koblenz Promenade Concerts – Concert Shell

The Koblenz Promenade Concerts in the Concert Shell are an institution of the Koblenz summer calendar. The Concert Shell – a semi-circular pavilion with particularly good acoustics – was built in the 1920s and is today one of the most characteristic structures on Koblenz's Rhine promenade.

Location

The Concert Shell is located at Kaiserin-Augusta-Anlagen 20, in the extensive Rhine gardens laid out by Empress Augusta in the 19th century. The Concert Shell is about a 15-minute walk from Koblenz main train station. Comfortable seating in the form of benches is available in front of the pavilion; many guests bring blankets and picnic baskets.

Program

The Promenade Concerts traditionally take place on Sunday afternoons from 3 PM to 5 PM and Thursday evenings from 7 PM to 9:30 PM. The program includes brass music from the police and the Bundeswehr, big bands, Dixieland jazz bands, choirs, folk music, and salon orchestras. The opening in 2026 will take place on Sunday, May 10 (Mother's Day), with the association Gruen(h)ecken e.V. The season ends with the closing concert on Thursday, September 17.

Organizers and Funding

The series is organized on a voluntary basis by Music Live e.V. Koblenz and financed through donations and sponsorships. The Friends of the Rhine Gardens Koblenz association supports the series, as the Concert Shell and the surrounding gardens fall within their main responsibilities.
