Koblenz Carnival is one of the major Rhenish carnival cultures with centuries of tradition. Under the umbrella of the Koblenz Carnival Association (AKK), all recognized carnival societies in the city work together to organize the season as a joint major event. Over the fifth season, more than 200 events are spread out: gala sessions, ladies' sessions, children's sessions, theme parties, traditional evenings, and the major city parades.

Season Start on 11.11.2025

The 2025/26 season traditionally begins on November 11, 2025 – the jester's opening with the presentation of the Koblenz Tollitäten (Prince and Princess) and the city society's swaying. From then until Ash Wednesday on February 18, 2026, one date follows another.

The Central Dates of the City Season

Within the many society sessions, some major AKK events stand out and shape the city's image:

  • January 11, 2026: Enthronement of the Tollitäten – official handover of the city keys to the Koblenz Prince and Princess
  • January 20 to 24, 2026: Schängelschiff – floating carnival stage on the Rhine with daily sessions, theme parties, and dance evenings
  • February 12, 2026: Schwerdonnerstag – traditionally celebrated in Koblenz with big parties and ladies in costume
  • February 13, 2026: Carnival Friday with various hall events
  • February 16, 2026, 12:11 PM: Grand Rose Monday Parade Koblenz – the season's main parade with hundreds of floats and walking groups
  • February 17, 2026: Violet Tuesday with the Kehraus burning in Immendorf and the season finale

Schängelschiff – A Koblenz Original

A Koblenz specialty is the Schängelschiff: a floating carnival stage that docks at the Rhine promenade for several days, hosting various sessions, parties, and theme nights. The city thus combines its location on the Rhine with the jester's season.

Rose Monday Parade Koblenz

The Rose Monday Parade is the major social event of the season. Regardless of the weather, hundreds of floats, walking groups, dance troupes, and music bands parade through the city center. Laden with Kamellen (sweets) and accompanied by music and swaying, the parade is a magnet far beyond the city limits. The lineup begins in the morning, and the procession starts at 12:11 PM.

Kehraus in Immendorf

The finale is on Violet Tuesday in Immendorf, a district in the south of Koblenz, where the carnival puppet – a traditional straw figure – is burned. This marks the end of the fifth season, the jester's season is buried – and with Ash Wednesday, the fasting period begins.

AKK Carnival Koblenz — edition 2026

The Koblenz Carnival season 2025/26 runs from November 11, 2025, to Ash Wednesday (February 18, 2026). Within this period, over 200 sessions, theme parties, traditional evenings, and city parades take place. Highlights of the AKK overall events: Enthronement of the Tollitäten on Jan 11, Schängelschiff Jan 20–24, Schwerdonnerstag Feb 12, Carnival Friday Feb 13, Rose Monday parade Feb 16 at 12:11 PM, and Violet Tuesday Feb 17 with Kehraus in Immendorf. Hall events are ticketed, city parades are free to attend.
