Roschberg – a district of Namborn

Roschberg is one of the districts of the municipality of Namborn in the St. Wendel district. With a few hundred inhabitants, it is a typical Saarland high-altitude village on the edge of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park. Despite its small size, the village maintains an active club life – the annual Kirmes (fair) at the beginning of September is one of the most important dates in the village calendar.

Three days on the village square

The Kirmes traditionally runs from Thursday/Friday to Sunday, often around the first weekend in September. The venue is the central village square, which is equipped with a festival tent, stage, and several amusement rides. The Roschberg local council and the local clubs share the organisation – a well-established club life ensures the voluntary sponsorship.

Catering by local clubs

As is typical for Saarland village fairs, the local clubs provide the catering. Schwenker (grilled meat skewers), Lyoner sausages, fries, homemade salads, coffee and cake, and cold beer are on the menu. Prices are moderate – the festival serves to finance the clubs and promote village cohesion, not for profit.

Music program

In the evenings, there is live music from regional bands or DJ sets, and on Sunday, a traditional Frühschoppen (morning pint) with a local music club. Sunday afternoon is family-oriented with a children's program.

In the St. Wendel district

Namborn, with its districts, is located in the north of Saarland, between St. Wendel and the Hochwald region. The landscape is characterised by low mountain ranges, forests, and small villages. Lake Bostal – the district's tourist highlight – is only a few minutes' drive away.
