Franconian early summer Kirchweih with specialties, music, and conviviality
In Franconia, the Kirchweih — the Kärwa — is more than a church festival: it is the social highlight of the village year. In Markt Taschendorf, a market town in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district, the big Kirchweih takes place in early summer and spans several days with a packed, tradition-rich program.
It kicks off with a musical Schlachtschüsselessen at Tannenhof Schorr, accompanied by the »Kerwablosn« with Franconian brass music. On the festival days, there is a lunch menu with Franconian Kirchweih specialties, a political get-together, the Kärwazug with the »Kerwablech« through the town, the raising of the Kirchweih tree on the MSC grounds, the beer tapping in the festival tent, and dance evenings with live bands such as »Tutti Frutti« and »Let's dance«.
On Kirchweih Sunday, the festival service in the Johanneskirche is on the program, followed by the traditional Kirchweih parade with humorous performances and Kärwamusik. The event concludes with a musicians' meeting at Tannenhof Schorr. The organizers are the Kirchweihverein Markt Taschendorf together with the local innkeepers.
