Kerwa Tradition in Western Middle Franconia

Markt Nordheim, located in the Neustadt a.d. Aisch-Bad Windsheim district, cherishes the Franconian Kirchweih tradition in multiple ways: in mid-September, the Ulsenheim district celebrates its Kerwa, followed by the main Kirchweih in the town of Markt Nordheim in mid-October. Both are genuine Franconian village Kirchweihen, celebrated for generations in western Middle Franconia.

The Kerwa focuses on convivial hours: freshly tapped beer, hearty Franconian snacks, the Kirchweih tree, and the occasional Kerwa dance. The festival is supported by local clubs and the village community – a celebration that connects generations and attracts visitors from neighboring towns.

Down-to-Earth Franconia

For those wishing to experience rural Franconia away from the major folk festivals, Markt Nordheim's Kirchweih offers an authentic piece of tradition. With its October date, the Kerwa also marks the convivial end of the warm season in the market town.
