Franconian Kirwa in Leerstetten

The Kirchweih Leerstetten is deeply rooted in Franconian tradition. It takes place every year on the fourth weekend of August in the Leerstetten district of the municipality of Schwanstetten in the Roth district. The venue is the Kirchplatz on Hauptstraße 6a, which becomes the focal point of village life.

Kerwaboum and Kerwamadli

The Kirwa is upheld by the Kerwaboum and Kerwamadli of Leerstetten – the village youth who organize the festival, erect the Kerwabaum, and attend the joint church service on Kirchweihtag (Kirchweih day). Their voluntary commitment ensures the continuation of a tradition that connects generations.

Festival Procession and Customs

The Kirchweih opens on Friday evening with the Kirchweih festival procession, which begins at 6:15 PM. Community in the Roth District
