The Kirchweih Kohlberg is the traditional Kirwa of the market town of Kohlberg in the district of Neustadt an der Waldnaab in the Oberpfalz. It is one of the longest documented Kirchweih festivals in the region: it has been mentioned in the records of the Diocese of Regensburg as early as 1723 – meaning the tradition dates back over 300 years.
From Corpus Christi to Monday
Historically, the Kohlberg Kirwa extended from Corpus Christi to the following Monday. During these days, work in the craft businesses ceased, and the entire market town celebrated.
