About Kirchweih Erzberg

The Kirchweih Erzberg is the traditional Kirchweih (church consecration festival) of the Erzberg district of the Middle Franconian municipality of Wörnitz in the Ansbach district. Around Ascension Day, the multi-day festival at the village community center combines customs with football tournaments, Franconian culinary specialties, brass band music, and convivial hospitality.

Kirchweih Erzberg — edition 2026

The Kirchweih Erzberg 2026 will take place around Ascension Day in mid-May at the village community center by the sports field. Planned events include football tournaments, Schlachtschüssel-Essen, Frühschoppen, and live music over several days.

In 2026, FC Erzberg-Wörnitz and ELJ Erzberg will again host their Kirchweih around Ascension Day (May 14, 2026). As in previous years, the festival will feature a Schlachtschüssel-Essen to kick things off, Frühschoppen with Weißwurst on Father's Day, live music, football tournaments for children, youth, and adults on festival Saturday, and Kirchweih Sunday with a church service, brass choir, and entertainment music. A carousel and bouncy castle will provide entertainment for children.

Kirchweih with a Long Tradition

The Kirchweih, called "Kärwa" in Franconia, is one of the fixed highlights of the village year. In Erzberg, a district of Wörnitz, FC Erzberg-Wörnitz and the Evangelische Landjugend (ELJ) Erzberg jointly organize the festival, which traditionally takes place around Ascension Day.
