21st edition of the Kirchener Stadtfest with Martinsmarkt on November 8, 2026 — seven hours of city program with ecumenical service and stage finale
The Kirchener Stadtfest with Martinsmarkt celebrates its 21st edition in 2026, establishing itself as a firm fixture in the event calendar of the Sieg town. Over two decades, the format of a city festival, Martinsmarkt, and Sunday shopping has built a loyal visitor base.
The festival mile stretches from Rathausplatz in the historic city center via Linden-, Brücken-, and Bahnhofstraße to the Bahnhofsvorplatz. This elongated route allows for a wide distribution of market stalls, catering points, and stage elements throughout the city center. Visitors can easily move between program points and experience the entire city center.
The start at 11:00 AM is marked by the Ecumenical Service on the Parkhausbühne — a remarkable element for a city festival. The ecumenical format unites the Catholic and Protestant parish communities of Kirchen and emphasizes the communal character of the festival. The service picks up on the spirit of St. Martin — Saint Martin sharing his cloak with the beggar, a symbol of solidarity and humanity.
From 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, the stage and activity program unfolds. Various music and dance groups from Kirchen and the region perform on the Parkhausbühne — brass choirs, children's choirs, dance groups, possibly bands from the Wisserland. Family activities organized by the Kirchen Youth Center cater to the youngest visitors with games, crafts, and interactive programs.
The grand finale at 6:00 PM on the Parkhausbühne provides a crowning conclusion to the Stadtfest. A musical highlight brings the festival participants together one last time before the end of the day.
Kirchen retailers open their stores on Sunday, offering festival visitors the opportunity to combine their stroll with shopping. The Sunday shopping event brings additional footfall to the city center and is an important economic stimulus for the local economy.
The key dates have been confirmed by the city of Kirchen:
The Stadtfest kicks off with the Ecumenical Service on the Parkhausbühne, located in the center of the festival mile. The Catholic and Protestant parish communities of Kirchen jointly organize the service — a remarkable element for a city festival. It connects to the spirit of St. Martin with a sermon on sharing the cloak and solidarity.
Opening of the market and catering stalls along the festival mile. First visitors stroll through the city center, early shopping in the open stores.
Peak visitor numbers in the afternoon. Performances by various music and dance groups on the Parkhausbühne: brass choirs, children's choirs, dance groups from Kirchen and the region. Family activities from the youth center with games and craft sessions. Food stalls are well-frequented.
Continuation of the stage and activity program. Further musical contributions, possibly a performance by a band or a special artist.
The crowning conclusion of the Stadtfest with the Grand Stadtfest Finale on the Parkhausbühne. A musical highlight, communal singing, or a special performance.
Farewell to festival guests, dismantling of stalls in the late evening or the following day.
